Liability, Assumption of Risk & Participation Agreement

Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk & Participation Agreement

As a condition of participating in the 2027 Greece Retreat (the “Retreat”) organized by Become Centered (“Company”), I acknowledge that I have carefully read this Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk & Participation Agreement (“Agreement”) and agree to its terms.

1. Express Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in the Retreat and related activities—including but not limited to yoga classes, meditation, workshops, excursions, hiking, swimming, transportation, and other group activities—involves inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical injury, illness, or death

  • Slips, falls, or accidents

  • Exposure to infectious diseases

  • Travel-related risks

  • Risks associated with outdoor terrain and water activities

  • Acts of third parties

  • Circumstances beyond the control of the Company

I acknowledge that I have had the opportunity to ask questions about the Retreat and its activities and have received satisfactory answers.

I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the Company, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

2. Release and Waiver of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and agree not to sue Become Centered and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, affiliates, agents, landlords, and representatives (collectively, the “Company”) from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, damages, costs, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in the Retreat.

This release includes, without limitation, claims for personal injury, illness, property damage, wrongful death, emotional distress, or economic loss.

This release does not apply to claims arising from the Company’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.

3. Participant Responsibility & Warranty of Fitness

I understand that it is my sole responsibility to determine whether I am physically and mentally fit to participate in the Retreat.

I represent and warrant that:

  • I have no condition that would endanger myself or others.

  • I am capable of participating safely.

  • I will inform the Company in advance of any serious medical condition, severe allergy, or limitation.

  • I will bring all necessary medications and medical supplies.

I understand that medical resources in certain areas of Greece may differ from those in my home country.

I further confirm that I maintain adequate health and travel insurance coverage for the duration of the Retreat.

The Company relies on these representations in permitting my participation.

4. Emergency Medical Authorization

In the event of an emergency, I authorize the Company to obtain medical treatment on my behalf if I am unable to do so.

I understand that:

  • I am financially responsible for any medical treatment received.

  • The Company assumes no liability for medical care obtained.

  • Emergency services may not be immediately available.

5. Cancellation, Refund & Force Majeure Policy

Participant Cancellation

All Retreat payments are non-refundable. I understand that it is my responsibility to purchase appropriate travel insurance.

Force Majeure

If the Retreat cannot proceed due to a Force Majeure event—defined as circumstances beyond the Company’s reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government actions, border closures, war, civil unrest, or transportation shutdowns—the Company will provide a credit toward a future 6-night retreat, valid for 24 months from the original Retreat dates.

The Company shall not be liable for:

  • Airfare or travel costs

  • Visa expenses

  • Alternative accommodations

  • Loss of enjoyment

  • Consequential or incidental damages

6. Illness & Travel Restrictions (Including COVID-19)

If government-imposed travel restrictions prevent participation (such as border closures, visa non-issuance, mandatory quarantine upon arrival, or flight cancellations with no alternatives), a one-time deferment will be offered.

Deferment will not be granted for personal illness, including COVID-19 or other viruses.

Any price increase in accommodation, catering, or seasonal rates will apply to the new booking.

7. Changes or Cancellation by Property

If the Retreat venue becomes unavailable for reasons other than Force Majeure, the Company may:

  1. Offer an alternative venue or date; or

  2. Issue a refund of payments made to the Company.

The Company shall not be responsible for additional costs or damages incurred.

8. Insurance

I acknowledge that the Company does not provide insurance.

I understand that I am strongly advised to obtain:

  • Travel insurance

  • Medical insurance (including international coverage)

  • Trip interruption coverage

  • Third-party liability coverage

  • Repatriation coverage

I assume full responsibility for any uninsured losses.

9. Governing Law & Venue

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any legal action arising out of or related to this Agreement shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Colorado.

If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

10. Binding Effect

This Agreement is binding upon me and my spouse, heirs, estate, legal representatives, successors, and assigns.

Vicki, PA

Before meeting Caroline, I felt overwhelmed and stressed. Her supportive nature has helped me organize my thoughts, reduce my anxiety, and improve my sleep.

Caroline was a true delight. She cultivated a wonderful group of fellow travelers. Her thoughtfulness in planning and leading the retreat were exceptional.
